When saving files to SharePoint via the browser the user is not prompted to enter custom metadata. To record custom metadata the user must add it later by selecting the uploaded file and editing its properties. If any of the custom metadata columns are defined as mandatory (Required) the file will remain checked out until the metadata has been provided.
MacroView DMF and MacroView Message streamline the upload process by displaying the properties dialog when saving new documents and emails if there are any mandatory or optional metadata properties defined. This allows the document to be uploaded and checked-in in a single operation.
Don't prompt for optional metadata
If there are mandatory metadata columns defined for the selected content type, MacroView DMF and MacroView Message will ALWAYS display the properties dialog when uploading documents and emails.
If there is optional metadata defined and you want MacroView DMF or MacroView Message to behave the same way as the browser (i.e. not display the properties dialog on upload) you can disable Prompt for optional properties when uploading files and/or Prompt for optional properties when saving emails options under DMF Options.
Allowing Email Filing Rules to save emails
The Prompt for optional properties when saving emails option can be particularly useful if you use Email Filing Rules and are saving emails to areas that have non mandatory metadata columns that would otherwise not save automatically.
Version support
MacroView DMF and MacroView Message 8.6 or later.
